03-01-2016: Materialise launched the Materialise Mimics Care Suite, the platform for 3D printing in Hospitals
The release was along with Materialise Mimics inPrint.
On March 1, 2016, Materialise announced the launch of Materialise Mimics Care Suite, a comprehensive package of software and solutions for 3D printing in hospitals, along with Materialise Mimics inPrint, software designed to help surgeons create accurate medical models using 3D printing without the need for advanced clinical engineering. The announcement took place during the annual American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) congress.
The Materialise Mimics Care Suite combined medical software and services into a new, neutral platform that enabled further integration of 3D printing and spatial design in hospitals. MMCS merged planning and communication software with tools for creating patient-specific models and implants, allowing surgeons to treat complex cases and apply intricate surgical plans in operating rooms.
Materialise Mimics inPrint made 3D printing in hospitals more accessible by integrating data from all new imaging-based systems. According to Materialise, even novice users were able to use the system thanks to its intuitive, semi-automated segmentation tools—particularly a tool for generating heart models with all their components in just a few steps. The company emphasized that models created with this software could be saved as interactive PDF files and 3D printed.
In 2017, Materialise partnered with Siemens Healthineers, integrating Mimics inPrint with the syngo.via platform. This provided radiologists with easier access to 3D printing technology, supporting surgical planning and enhancing collaboration among medical teams. A year later, Materialise became the first company in the world to receive FDA approval for using 3D printing software to create anatomical models for diagnostic purposes.
In 2023, Materialise introduced Mimics Flow Case Management, a solution for managing clinical cases in hospital 3D printing labs. This new offering enabled hospitals to digitize their 3D printing workflows, enhanced quality management, and facilitated collaboration among clinicians, 3D lab leaders, and engineers.
The most recent update occurred in January this year when the company announced the launch of the Materialise Mimics integrated platform, designed to increase efficiency in advanced 3D planning and the creation of personalized medical devices.
