06-01-2016: Snapmaker was founded
It is top Chinese manufacturer of multifunctional „All-In-One” 3D printers
On June 1, 2016, Daniel Chen founded Snapmaker – the Shenzhen based company specializing in multifunctional 3D printers that combine 3D printing, laser engraving, and CNC carving. In March 2017, Snapmaker launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to fund its first product, the Snapmaker Original. The campaign was highly successful, raising over $2.27 million from more than 5,000 backers.
The 3D printer combined three functionalities: 3D printing, laser engraving, and CNC carving—into a single modular machine. The device's modular design allowed users to easily switch between functions by changing the tool heads and platforms. The Snapmaker Original received positive reviews for its build quality, ease of use, and affordability, making it popular among makers and educators.
Two years later in October 2019, Snapmaker launched another crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for the Snapmaker 2.0, which included three models: the A150, A250, and A350. These models offered larger build volumes, improved precision, and enhanced features compared to the original Snapmaker. The Snapmaker 2.0 campaign raised over $7.85 million, becoming the second most funded 3D printer on Kickstarter.
The company's history is a model example of a successful career based on Kickstarter. Snapmaker has received numerous awards and recognition for its innovation and design, eg. iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. The company has built a strong community of users and collaborates with educational institutions, providing tools and resources to support STEM education.
