06-08-2015: Airwolf 3D presented the AXIOM 3D printer series
Airwolf3D is one of the last old-school American companies producing desktop 3D printers
On June 8, 2015, Airwolf 3D launched a new line of professional 3D printers called AXIOM. It was quite an innovative series of devices at that time, equipped with a single, high-temperature print head capable of working with over 30 different thermoplastic materials.
Airwolf3D is one of the last old-school American companies producing desktop 3D printers that has survived to this day. The company was founded in 2012 in California, USA, by Erik and Eva Wolf. Airwolf 3D specializes in creating high-quality, professional 3D printers that are used in both education and industry.
AXIOM 3D printers debuted in June 2015 at the Atlantic Design & Manufacturing Show in New York. They used the CoreXY movement system and had a fully enclosed build chamber made of extruded aluminum and injection-molded polycarbonate components. This allowed for 3D printing of parts with maximum dimensions of 32 x 20 cm x 25 cm, which made Airwolf3D 3D printers one of the largest desktop devices on the market.
Airwolf 3D also introduced an automatic print bed leveling system that calibrated the bed before each print and kept it level throughout the entire process. Users were able to use the cloud to manage 3D printing with AstroPrint, which allowed them to prepare production files quickly and easily. Airwolf 3D also designed an innovative replaceable cartridge (ERC) system that allowed users to quickly replace the print head.
