06-11-2015: Bold Machines released iconic Medieval Castle 3D model on Thingiverse
Based on two German castles; Schloss Lichtenstein and the Neuschwanstein Castle
On June 11, 2015, Bold Machines – an "Innovation Workshop" launched by Bre Pettis after he resigned as CEO at MakerBot, published a 3D model of Medieval Castle on Thingiverse. Based on two German castles; Schloss Lichtenstein and the Neuschwanstein Castle, the model was adapted for 3D printing using FDM / FFF technology in one piece or in parts for self-assembly.
Although this event can hardly be called a breakthrough in the history of 3D printing, I am sure that there will be many people who have great fondness for this castle model.
In the heyday of the idea of „a 3D printer at every home", there was a great need for attractive 3D models that were optimized for the still problematic, semi-amateur FFF technology. Bold Machines - a cell created in the Stratasys structures, which aim was to keep Bre Pettis busy, has created some really interesting and intriguing models in its short career. The Medieval Castle was the most famous of all…
I will write much more about Bold Machines and Bre Pettis in the coming days (we have two very interesting anniversaries coming up in June), but for now I would like to present a few photos of the castle we printed and painted in 2015.

The model is still available for download on Thingiverse.
