06-12-2013: 3D Systems acquired Phenix Systems
Phenix Systems was a leading French manufacturer of 3D metal printers operating in DMLS technology
On June 12, 2013, 3D Systems announced the acquisition of 80% of the shares of Phenix Systems - a leading French manufacturer of 3D metal printers operating in DMLS technology. The remaining 20% was acquired in the second half of the same year.
The acquisition was subject to standard closing conditions and was completed in July 2013. After closing the transaction, 3D Systems made an offer to take over the remaining 20% of shares of Phenix Systems, listed on the French market (Alternext), and then carried out the procedure of withdrawing the shares from trading. The maximum price for 80% of the shares was to be EUR 13 per share.
Phenix Systems was a leading supplier of 3D printers using DMLS technology, based in Riom, France. The company's machines could 3D print chemically clean, fully dense parts from materials including stainless steel, tool steel, superalloys, and nonferrous metal alloys. 3D printers have been used in the aerospace, automotive and medical industries.
The acquisition of the French company significantly enriched the offer of 3D printers and materials of 3D Systems, ultimately making it complementary. In 2013, 3D Systems was present in all major AM markets: FDM/FFF, SLA, SLS, CJP and DMLS.
