07-08-2022: Nano Dimension acquired Admatec and Formatec
The integration of Admatec and Formatec into Nano Dimension’s ecosystem was expected to enhance the company’s Industry 4.0 initiatives
On July 8, 2023, Nano Dimension has announced the acquisition of Formatec Holding B.V., including its subsidiaries Admatec Europe B.V. and Formatec Technical Ceramics B.V. This move strengthened Nano Dimension’s position in the industrial 3D printing sector, particularly in metal and ceramic, while broadening its technological and material capabilities.
Based in the Netherlands, Admatec and Formatec specialized in advanced systems for ceramic and metal components, utilizing digital light processing (DLP) technology. Their solutions catered to industries such as medical, jewelry, industrial manufacturing, and investment casting, offering materials with exceptional mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties.
Additionally, the companies operated a production service division that supports industrial-scale customers through a hybrid approach combining additive manufacturing and injection molding.
The integration of Admatec and Formatec into Nano Dimension’s ecosystem was expected to enhance the company’s Industry 4.0 initiatives, leveraging artificial intelligence, robotics, and materials science to drive innovation. Nano Dimension’s established expertise in conductive and dielectric materials for AME will now be complemented by Admatec and Formatec’s proficiency in ceramics and metals, expanding the range of applications for end-use parts.
Furthermore, the acquisition enabled Nano Dimension to offer larger-scale production capabilities, moving from millimeter-sized components to parts measuring multiple centimeters or inches. This aligns with the growing demand for localized, high-mix, low-volume manufacturing in key markets such as the United States and Europe.
