08-21-2013: Solidscape announced the premiere of 3Z MAX wax 3D printer
At that time it was the fastest wax 3D printer on the market
On August 21, 2013, Solidscape - manufacturer of high-precision 3D wax printers (then owned by Stratasys), announced the introduction of the 3Z MAX, the newest member of the 3Z Series. It was supposed to offer the highest precision at a higher speed. In fact, Solidscape advertised it as its fastest 3D wax printer, however, the actual speeds were not quoted in the 3D printer specs. It was dedicated to the jewelry, dental, and industrial sectors.
The 3Z MAX was fully automated and equipped with a user-friendly touch screen and proprietary software. That allowed operators to produce high-precision wax parts ready for casting and manage the process remotely from a PC. The build area was 152.4 x 152.4 x 101.6 mm (6" x 6" x 4"), with a resolution of 5000 x 5000 dpi in XY and 8000 dpi in the Z axis.
The price for the machine was set at $49,650.
Two years later, in July 2015, Stratasys announced that Kangshuo Group Co. Ltd is opening the largest 3D printing service bureau network in China and will equip it with up to 1,000 high-precision Solidscape 3D printers. Three years after this event, also in July but in 2018, Solidscape was acquired by the French company Prodways. In April of this year, the company was sold to an undisclosed "investor."
