Atomic Layer of the Day:
Last year, TCT Magazine published a graphic showcasing 15 top executives from the global AM industry who were scheduled to speak between June 26–28, 2024, during the “RAPID + TCT Executive Perspectives Keynote Series.”
In response, I posted on LinkedIn a post that became one of my first viral hits, revealing what many of you now appreciate as my “uncompromising, straight-forward commentator style.”
In that post, I asked users:
“Point to each person whose company is making a profit in the 3D printing business.”
People really loved it…
Recently, I stumbled back upon that post and the original graphic — and I was stunned by what I realized! So here’s the updated version, with a red mark over each executive who has since “taken their talents elsewhere”:
A short explanation:
Michelle Sidwell left Velo3D shortly after the conference — but following the company’s miraculous end-of-year resurrection and fresh funding round, she returned in January 2025.
Ric Fulop remains CEO of Desktop Metal, though at this point… it’s unclear what the future holds for Desktop Metal at all.
The rest? They’ve moved on to other ventures. Let’s take a closer look at these fine managers:
Savi Baveja left HP in October 2024, and by November had launched his own company — DBT Labs LLC (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy).
Yoav Stern left Nano Dimension in December 2024 (right around Christmas) and is now waiting for your call with a job offer.
Shai Terem just exited Markforged last week and is currently on a well-deserved break.
Avi Reichental is technically still affiliated with Nexa3D, but since the company “scaled down operations” December last year, he’s gone quiet on that front — and far more vocal about Quickparts, where he’s now acting CEO.
Victor Roman left Arburg in January this year and currently describes himself as a freelancer.
So, 5 out of the 15 executives are no longer in the roles they held as of June last year — that’s 33.33% turnover. Add in the inevitable departure of Ric Fulop and we reach 40% (Count Michelle Sidwell’s brief exit and return, and the number climbs to a solid 46.67%.)
Not bad, right? Eleven months — less than a year — and we’ve got a full-blown carnage.
So if you’re worried about your business or job, hey — that fear is everywhere. Even at the very top.
3D Printed Death mows down everyone equally.

Bambu Lab’s latest firmware update enables full support for AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT on P1P, P1S, X1, and X1 Carbon printers. Phrozen plans a 16K upgrade kit for its Sonic Mighty Revo resin 3D printer, enabling users to enhance existing 8K or 12K models. The complex hardware retrofit includes a new LCD, mainboard, and components. Pricing and release date remain unknown, but it’s a rare move toward sustainability in resin printing.
Xeometry reveald its latest financial results. In Q1 2025, the company achieved record revenue of $151 million, up 23% year-over-year, driven by strong marketplace growth and demand for advanced manufacturing, especially 3D printing. Marketplace revenue rose 27% to $136 million, with over 71,000 active buyers. Gross profit grew 18%, and Adjusted EBITDA reached $0.1 million, marking progress toward profitability. Xometry expanded instant quoting in Europe, launched Partner Success Score 3.0, and earned CMMC Level 2 certification. While supplier services declined 6%, strong marketplace momentum and $231 million in cash position the company for further expansion in digital sourcing and additive manufacturing throughout 2025.
Industrial 3D Printing will chew up and spit out the best CEOs in other fields. Lot of these names stood on top of the hype cycle to get multiple funding rounds before reality hit. A few names here I have followed closely...just gas. Good riddance for the industry.
