Nikon SLM Solutions announces the sale of the 50th metal 3D printer from the NXG series
These flagship large-format metal 3D printing systems are the foundation of the company's success
Sam O’Leary, CEO of Nikon SLM Solutions, announced that his company recorded another successful quarter, achieving approximately +30% year-over-year revenue growth. Additionally, the company sold its 50th large-format metal 3D printing system from the NXG series. These systems are used by 20 clients worldwide, coming from the largest and most significant sectors of the manufacturing industry.
Just a few years ago, at the turn of 2019 and 2020, SLM Solutions was experiencing significant difficulties, and the company’s future was uncertain. This began to change shortly after the C19 pandemic, when next-generation machines—the NXG series—were introduced to the market, featuring a large build area and up to 12 lasers.
This not only allowed for the production of truly large parts but also drastically increased the speed of additive manufacturing.
The market and technological success caught the attention of Nikon, one of the world’s largest corporations specializing in photography and optical systems. Exactly two years ago, the company announced its intention to acquire SLM, which was completed in January 2023. All formalities were finalized a year ago, on September 4, 2023.
Today, SLM Solutions is a key player in the industrial AM market. The company recently announced the opening of a manufacturing facility in the USA, which will enable faster and better service for American clients.
