Concord AM Capital announces itself as a strategic investor in Formlabs
The partnership is intended to support Formlabs’ expansion across China and the broader APAC market
Chinese investment fund Concord AM Capital (合世家资本), which specializes in additive manufacturing, announced on LinkedIn that it has become a strategic investor in Formlabs.
Concord AM’s portfolio includes companies such as UnionTech, Anisoprint, AmPro, and RAYSHAPE, among others.
The post was published by the fund’s investment director, Shen Wang, who said the partnership would focus on supporting the company’s development in China and the broader APAC region.
The post tagged several Formlabs executives, including founder and CEO Maxim Lobovsky. Nick Graham commented with a brief “welcome to the team,” while David Lakatos left a like.
Formlabs has neither announced nor confirmed the transaction officially.
The stated direction of the partnership is not particularly exotic for the company. Formlabs has been manufacturing its 3D printers in China for nearly a decade and operates an office in Shenzhen.
Chinese capital would also not be new to its shareholder base, as Shenzhen Capital Group has been an investor since a 2018 funding round.
A fund specializing in 3D printing and offering support specifically in China and APAC therefore fits neatly into a market the company has known for years.
The news comes at a particularly interesting moment for Formlabs. Last week, the company announced changes to its board and brought in former Apple executive Dan Riccio as an advisor and investor. Also, Bloomberg reported that it was holding preliminary discussions about a potential IPO and raising around $500 million, but a company spokesperson declined to comment at the time.
